Solve : winrar and or winzip will not open files?

1.	Solve : winrar and or winzip will not open files?
Answer» I have windows 8 pro on a 64 bit Hp PAVILION . I INSTALLED WinRAR, and tried 7zip can,not open FILES with either program. what would be my problem ? Are these zip files PASSWORD protected, or do you get any error messages to help further in diagnosing the issue?I am getting a pop up (the archive is either in unkown format or damaged) and no archives found More info... Such as where are these zip files from ? ?...what are they? ?...etc.
