Does ANYBODY know where the maximum USER defined path length is set in Windows XP PROFESSIONAL. As I understand the situation 255 characters is the default VALUE, with the actual maximum being 511.

The difficulty that I have with both of these articles is that they do not indicate how or where the maximum path length is set. There must SURELY be a registry key somewhere that holds the value of the maximum path length.
I would like to check what the value is currently set at and increase to the maximum if neccessary.
