Answer»

Hi,
I have an Asus t100 updated from windows 8. Last successful update received was 28th April. I get error code 0x8024402c. I have tried to download fixes from microsoft but they all say 'The site can't be reached. Any help appreciated.
GeofflDirect downloads from browser are only available from Internet Explorer, Microsoft Update Catalog.

[attachment deleted by ADMIN to conserve space]Both of you may be infected....run your protection scans....

Also Support for Win Updates is Free....they have a toll free #.I ran malwarebites and it did not FIND anything

No 1 tool does it all...Hi Patio! Always good to be able to chat with you.

I'm running Mint 17.3, freshly scanned with ClamAV. That screenshot I attached to my orig post shows a message that I have never seen before in 10 years of using Firefox. Now, I have seen another warning message (many times) that warns the WEBSITE's Certificate has errors - "this connection is untrusted" & it asks if you want to continue or  "get me out of here".

Hope this sheds some LIGHT on the issue.Hi Andy...
Is the time and date on your PC correct ? ?Which other tools should I use? This computer was refurbished by ASUS. I have only had it for 2 months. I don't go to many websites and all I have been using for years so I don't know if the risk of infection is great. The only site I don't seem to be able to get to is Microsoft Update. Quote

Am I missing something ?  Edge/Explorer should be used for Windows updates.  If I use F.F. I get the same error.I go to 'settings'  'update and security'  'windows update'. it says 'updates are avaliable'. under details it says 'waiting for download ' and has said this for days. Yes Patio, the time is accurate. The machine runs great, unlike my Win7 Pro box, which has update issues of its own (hence my being drawn to this thread in the first place).

Y'all have fun with this. I'm going to try a different direction for my issue
