Download & run Hijackthis, post the logfile here.I've done the online virus checks and used a load of other spyware removal programs and nothing has helped.

Thanks in advance for looking into this.I wouldn't worry about slipstreaming anything. Just load SP2 after WinXP and BEFORE you connect to the internet.Does it pause in safe MODE?Thanks for the installation tips, LOOKS like I might be trying that again.

As for pausing in safe mode, not that I KNOW of.  I haven't had it running very long in safe mode, so due to the random nature of the pausing I couldn't say for sure.  It went a whole day the other day without pausing once, thought I'd CRACKED it, then it started again next day
