|
Answer» Okay i have a problem with QuickTime i need to update it BAD, but every time i try to update it it says...i don't remember what exactly it says but i know that theres something wrong with my Windows Installer and i have tried all the suggested ways to fix it except for Reformatting my OS and that's what I'm down to. I have the CD and i have 2 hard drives and based on what i learned when i reformatted my sis' laptop i might be able to TRANSFER everything from my C drive to my D drive (and whats left over get "however many is needed" gm ail accounts and store it in there) then clear the partition on my C drive and reinstall my OS then put all my files on my C drive and reinstall the OS on my D drive then put all the files back to where their supposed to be. but do i have to install the OS to both drives at the same time so their SYNCED together all the time or if i do that will i have to restart my computer and boot from that drive to access whats on that drive? Sorry i type a LOT, please help Windows Installer fixthat uses Windows Installer to install...windows installer doesnt work on my computer i got the same error message as always.Quote i don't remember what exactly it says but i know that theres something wrong with my Windows InstallerTry again, and post a whole error message. Any other installs affected, or just QuickTime?anything that uses the Windows Installer to install, doesn't install. I try to install something then a box pops up. ^box that pops up^ then after a while of saying "Preparing to Install..." it brings up an error box that says "The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in Safe Mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." Check here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315353hmmm now im down to an In-Place re installation of XP, but can i install Vista in-place of XP or would i have to clear the partitions and start from scratch like any other OS installation Did you try the above LINK? If computer is not working correctly, an upgrade is not recommended. Start from scratch, rather.Re-register MsiExec
If this METHOD fails, you will need to reinstall the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) Windows Installer 1.1 Windows Installer 2.0 Windows Installer 3.1[/list] |
