Answer» I have encountered a serious problem with my pc. It seems that quite possibly the HDD may have given up the ghost. PC kept rebooting while in startup mode and never GOT into windows.
I attempted to replace the faulty HDD with a spare that I have and run the recovery process with this new HDD. Problem is when I try to boot up using the new HDD I get a "NTLDR is missing" message. I realise this MEANS I probably need to SORT out my boot SEQUENCES but for some strange reason I can't access the BIOS to do that.
Anyone have any ideas?? If you have a floppy drive, copy the ntldr, ntdetect.com and boot.ini FILES from another computer to a floppy and put that in the A: drive when booting. It should direct you to the hard drive with the missing ntldr.
Click on the link below and scroll down to Bootdisks. What OS ?? How did you install the OS on the spare HDD ??
More info and someone will be along shortly.
