Answer» For sum reason when i click shutdown windows(xp) saves my settings and then freezes on the blue screen saying windows is shutting down. I need help, there are no viruses on my computer!!! from jtAn application you have installed may need longer to shutdown than Windows XP is willing to give it.
Shutdown all user-installed applications before shutting down Windows XP to see if this shows any sign of improvement.
there are loads of applications in task manager i don't want to shut down the wrong one because "it might cause undesirable effects"... shall i make a list of the applications run by the administrator and the system? It may cause undesireable effects until you reboot. It is a matter of trial and error.
Additional:
It may be wise as to install and Hijackthis so that we may be able to determine if another application is causing the problem. If you copy the log the application creates, we will automatically see your run list for start up.ok here it is...

Apart from:
4 - HKLM\..\Run: [uvanqlor] C:\WINDOWS\uvanqlor.exe
Can you identify that entry?
I suggest you terminate all processes that are ran under your username and then attempt to shutdown.
i terminated all processes under my name and it still didn't turn off, i also deleted uvanqlor ASWELL... I did not recommend for you to delete that entry - I was only inquiring wheter you could identify it or not. I suggest that you retrieve it, if that is still possible.
