Does Windows XP USE DOS.
I am trying to reformat my HD but when i go to File and scroll down to Format and press Enter i get a Warning
"Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using YHIS drive,and make SURE that no winndowis displaying the contents  of this drive. then try formatting again.
I have UNINSTALLED anti-spyware, ad-aware, nortons works, but am unable to uninstall Weather Watcher.
So can i get a DOS prompt using XP, How is it done ?
and the drive is partitioned what do i type at the prompt ?

The xp disk will format the drive for you.

Are you re-partitioning as well? Quote

1.  DOS emulator , not true DOS.
2.  You can't format the drive that's currently in use (the one you booted from).
3.  Yes.  Accessories--Command Prompt
4.  Type nothing...You can't do it the way you think.
