I am being bombarded with pop-up ads and new windows opening up.

Supersaint, DublinIt's not from the 8.1 update...your likely infected...
Dload and RUN ADWCLEANER for now...if that doesn't clear it up visit our Malware section and POST your info....I had the same problem with my new Tablet. It felt like a plague. Worst of all was the way ad highjacked the page at the very moment I was trying to SIGN in to a Forum, including this ONE. Now it has all virtually gone as a result of using AdW Cleaner which is free, and Malwarebytes which is paid for (well worth it). I also used Junk Removal Tool, recommended on this Forum.
Clayto2 We have never recommended Junk Removal Tool to my knowledge...JRT is recommended in the malware forum.Thanx for the heads up Dave...
