Answer» I've been using windows vista on my pc till a few weeks back. My friend installed his version of windows 7 on my pc, and used his activation code on the installation. Till then everything was fine. Now I'm reading that in 3 days the windows version will be INVALID and it won't let me valid my friend's code. (while it's still a valid license).
One of the clear issues I can see is that on my computer properties, there's a different product key for windows then the one I received for windows 7, and whenever I want to edit it, it still goes back to a different one. (Maybe this can be because I didn't delete the windows.old yet?)
If I can't find ANY sollution to this problem, is it possible to retreive my old windows from the windows.old files?
Thanks a lotFind out exactly how he did this...Did he install Win7 right over your Vista install ? ? If so your data is most likely gone... You may find some stuff in the Windows old folder but again that all depends on how he did the installation... As far as going back to Vista it's likely too late for that but you could always do a clean install of Vista if thats what you want.
For his activation on Win7 he may want to CONTACT MS...they do have an 800 phone #.The W7 installation wasn't done as an UPGRADE for the vista installation, but as a new one. As for MS support, do they answer live, or do I get an automated answering-machine?
Could it be that it will help if I bring my pc to my friend's house and try activating it there seen it might be ip-bound?The activation phones are answered by a real live person...QUOTE from: patio on February 20, 2013, 07:21:37 AM The activation phones are answered by a real live person...
Not unless you have a problem with it. I would see where he got it, sounds like it may be an illegal copyQuote from: patio on February 20, 2013, 07:21:37 AMThe activation phones are answered by a real live person...
