Solve : Windows 1803 Update Keeps failing.?

Windows Update 1603 keeps failing on Toshiba Windows 10 Laptop.
Was originally a Windows 7 machine but was force upgraded.Assuming you have plenty of FREE space for the update to take?

Curious how it was force upgraded? ( Did you have product key ISSUES or something else )

 Did you not go through the normal Windows 10 installation?

A clean install of Windows 10 might be the FIX and you shouldn't have to force its install.If he has another PC nearby, he can do these steps:
1. Make a "Live" Linux CD that has has a partition manage.
2. Boot up the CD and USE GPARD **to resize the partition.
3. Prepare a USB or DVD with current version of the 1803 build.
4. Install new copy of Windows 10 in the free space.

This does not violate EULA. The old install has the information that validates the re-install of Windows on the same machine.

** An alternative is to make a bookable CD with Easeus partition manager.

As many people will recall, Microsoft originally offered Windows 10 free option to Windows 7 users,
and then force upgraded as time ran out.
Microsoft did the installation.

I don't see an error message for 1803 but I am sure that there was one earlier - before
the machine shut down.
It tried to update KB4023057 at the same time, and is showing  an error code of
Ox8024a206 for that.
For the 1803 update it often says that Something Went Wrong after hours of trying to install.See here...That should keep me busy and out of trouble for a while patio!
And maybe even resolve the problem.Good Luck...Thank you!My experienced was similar. I succeeded by downloading the ISO for v1803 to a folder on C:\ , and running the SetUp from there.

It depends on the PC, because I have also done the upgrade on a different PC without any hassle. I did it from the USB STICK - mounted the ISO, and clicked on SetUp.
