Answer» How come certain video clip files when downloaded from a file sharing network will play on some machines and not on others.
Two Examples: A video (15MB) of a football clip that i WATCHED on a FRIEND's work PC, acted differently when i downloaded it, and requested a codec server, or something, and then received a MESSAGE that it could not CONTACT the codec server, etc. I could hear the sound but not get the video.
Example #2. Some video files from e-mule request a licence. When the file is downloaded and i open it, the Windows Media Player says it is acquiring license? Then it comes BACK with an "unspecified error". Anybody know what is going on with these files??? Media Player is big on digital rights management. This sounds like dangerous P2P stuff. Don't let the RIAA know about it. Have you googled for the necessary codecs?
You didn't mention your O/S so will need more info about your setup.
