Solve : Why am I prompted to access my clipboard??

Answer»

Why am I prompted to access my clipboard when I would like to post or submit a reply?

I find that request intrusive.  An EXPLANATION of its purpose is a request.

Does everyone else have to perform this task?  Incedently, when I deny the procedure, my posting a remark is denied.    That's never happened to me.
What browser are you using?
What OS?Posting a remark where?

Also, what are you using for virus protection?I've seen it a few times (can't remember which browser though I've got a feeling it's IE).

It's quite useful in that should there be a problem posting, you don't have to retype everything (ESPECIALLY long posts).

A quick "Google" showed that you can write scripts to access the clipboard via. the browser.

http://www.codehouse.com/javascript/tips/clipboard_send/Anything I post gets copied to my clipboard but I get no prompt. (IE)
I guess there's a setting to turn the prompt off somewhere.I've been using Firefox and this does not happen with it.  I'm curious about IE so I'm posting this with IE to see whether I get such a prompt.

Yep, I get the prompt. To disable the access to clipboard or allow it without being prompted:

1) Open the "Tools" menu

2) Click "Internet OPTIONS"

3) Go to the "Security" tab, make sure "Internet" is selected and click the "Custom Level" box.

4) Scroll down to the "SCRIPTING" section and under "Allow Programatic Clipboard Access" set it to DISABLE or ENABLE (which means allowing access without being prompted), as desired, and click OK > Yes > OK.
rlmarr, apparently you did not read my last post.  It's a feature of IE 7.  If you don't want it enabled, then disable it.   Quote

Maybe the forum is collecting information.
It's your clipboard.
Of course the forum has to also retain your posts so others can read them and without your IP address the information on the page would have no way of getting back to you. (This goes for all websites)
