Answer» Is this a good computer? Athlon LE 1640 (L) 2.7 GHz (45W), GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Chipset, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250 GB SATA 7200 rpm, DVD+/-R/RW 16X 12X +/-DL LS 12X RAM SuperMulti SATA drive , Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit), Upgraded my Video card to a Geforce 9500 GT 1GB. I can upgrade my OS but will that make it any better? If it is a gaming computer, you may want to consider getting another distribution of Windows Vista. Home Basic is the lowest of the lowest in terms of Windows Vista. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/compare-editions/default.aspx I can tell you now that Windows XP would run like the wind on that computer It depends what you want from the machine and what your budget is. A better processor would be a good start. More RAM is unlikely to make MUCH difference in most tasks, however RAM is very cheap. I don't see any advantages of any other editions of Vista vs. Basic for gaming ... could you fill me in please Carbon? I'm not familiar with Vista so it's probably a stupid question. I haven't been able to confirm it. Darn my ignorance towards Vista.....Vista Basic and Vista Home Premium is like Windows XP Home and Windows XP MCE. That's basically it. Well I only what to spend around $150 Maybe $200 I only have 2 slots for the RAM but it can hold 4GB (2GB x 2GB) I bought this computer at BJs for only $350 it is a good computer though... I guess a new processor... but i dont know nothing about them can you show me someone that is compatible with my Motherborde? I would like to buy from Tiger Direct if you can look for me. So should I keep Windows Vista home (32 Bit)? Can you help me find a good processor for $150 to $210 Quote from: patio on April 26, 2009, 09:09:44 AM Not true.Well, in windows basic, you don't have any media center, in windows home premium you do along with the premium microsoft games and the aero interface. But else I'm thinking microsoft hasn't changed anything else past that. There are 8 flavors of Vista and they are all diffferent to some degree...Yes, there's those differences but you really just don't care too much on it as long as life goes on and everything's HAPPY. Ok thanks I will keep This vista but what about the processor I asked for some help on that remember. $150 to $210 I can go over just have to work harder! just wondering, what psu do you have? Wattage, how much amps on 12V Rail? Umm Cant really get on it right now but its a AMD, 2.7 GHz processor that about all i know of unless you tell me were i can see the volts or what not... Thanks for your help guys and girls, BotsBestFriend |
