Answer» What's happening to iGoogle?
iGoogle will be retired in 16 months, on November 1, 2013. The mobile version will be retired on July 31, 2012. Full Story...
I am not surprised. Until recently, Google has been attempting to make iGoogle the "standard homepage" of its users for a while, but it seems like they have been giving up this last YEAR. I remember when it was first introduced how many link they would put at the bottom of the Google homepage.
I am not, nor have ever been, the kind of user who likes to have a busy homepage. The last thing I want to see when I open a new Internet window is the news. I am plenty happy to go to Google.com and just see a search box, because that is usually the only reason for why I am there. I did try to force myself to use it, since I do like the idea of having my calendar and email summaries in one place, but I had/have other ways of monitoring those things (telepathy being one, if you were wanting to know.)
Yesterday, I SAW that one of my computer REPAIR clients was actually using iGoogle. This surprised me, she was older, but USES the computer for multiple tasks (trip planning, genealogy research, emailing friends and family, etc). This was the first time I had seen anyone use iGoogle on their computer (and most of the people who's computer I repair use Google as their search engine.)

Nor am I. My homepage has always been, and likely always will be, a blank PAGE. I've got my phone for news and calendars and all of that fancy stuff; I like my browser to stay nice and simple.
