This doesn't make sense...
There is no upgrade path......
It needs a clean install.
They never PLANNED an upgrade path and anyone who is trying to hack it to death is doing an awful lot of work for nothing.

You can upgrade from beta to RC, but microsoft didn't want you to do it, so they disabled the option by default. The installer would just check the major OS VERSION and only show up the clean install path. But to get around that, it's just a simple number change to one of the files, not that difficult. It's not REALLY that big of a hack. See FOLLOWING link if you want to upgrade from beta to RC.

http://www.nirmaltv.com/2009/05/02/how-to-upgrade-from-windows-7-beta-to-rc-build/1) Their both Free...

2) Even MS suggests a clean install as does TechNet and MSDN...

So why would you want to do this ? ?cause if you didnt get a copy like you were supposed too. plus most of the bugs are out.Quote from: patio on May 12, 2009, 06:42:06 AM

All I am saying is that it is possible to do it. I am not saying that you should do it.That clears things up...Windows 98SE is the best followed by XP. I STILL have 98SE installed on one of my computers.well, if your hardware works on it and your apps you want to use work on it, then i'd say it's usable.
