Solve : What do I do??

Answer»

I need help!!  My computer monitor is READING Phoneix Files and won't let me do anything using the mouse.  Does anyone know what I should do?  Or what I need to do?  I thought maybe it was in safe mode...I don't understand Phoenix Files, unless you are referring to the BIOS. Please give computer make/model, etc. so we can hope to understand. All I know is that it is an HP Pavillon, purchased in 99.  I'm not HOME right now so I don't know the model number or anything like that.  Does that help?It will help more with model #'s and specific BIOS and message. What's the last thing you see on the screen?
How far does it boot up?
Is your mouse PS/2 or USB? - wired or RF?

If you are in the BIOS as GX1_Man suggests then your mouse has no function - you have to USE the four arrow keys on your keyboard and the F# keys to navigate.Hello!  I LOOKED up a few things.  I was able to get into CMOS during Setup and hit F5 which is setup and then saved and exited CMOS.  The computer rebooted and loaded Windows, so I thought it was fine.  Then when I tried to defrag it LOCKED up on me again.  It's freezing up.  So, I went through the process again and now the monitor only stays on for a second and then keeps going off.  Someone said it might be a video card.  What do you think?Does it beep on boot..........
