Solve : Western Digital Netcenter problem?

Answer»

Hi

I'm having a problem with my Western Digital Netcenter network external hard drive. Yesterday I changed the pool size of the volume but while it was doing this I accidentally took the wrong plug out of the socket causing the netcenter to turn off. Now when I turn it on, it only lasts a few hours until it COMPLETELY freezes and is inaccessible. When this happens I press the power button then it turns the usual orange colour but it stays like this and the only way to restart it is to actually remove the plug and plug it back in and turn it back on. Does anyone know what I could do to FIX this?

ThanksWhen you remove power from a HDD often nothing bad happens.
But, if the drive controller was in a write operation when the power drops, the results can be harmful, depending on the timing of the moment of power LOSS. A write error on a HDD may block address information for that sector of the disc. It may have to go back to the factory for a low-level format. Something that you should not TRY unless the tech support provides you the specific tools to do that.Hi,

Would unclaiming the drive then re claiming the drive work? It tells me on the web based MANAGEMENT tool for the netcenter that this will erase the hard drive. Would this allow me to start over again?Would re formatting the hard drive correct this error do you think? Because I'm in process of transferring all the data from the hard drive to an external hard drive.
