Answer» I have the strangest issue that I have ever seen.
Once, while visiting a web page, it was discussing the bgsound attribute for HTML. So, when I heard the sound of a match being struck, I thought it was funny. Then I went to another site, and it did it again. Thing is, I'm not sure where the sound is even coming from!
See, each time this happens my speakers are on. However, I couldn't tell WHETHER it was coming from my speakers or my monitor.
If it is my monitor, my first thought is that I'm ****ed. However, I am completely unable to predict the pattern. It happens randomly. It happened here yesterday.
There are some patterns to it; it may be what we need. First of all, I never get this sound when not in a browser. At least not so far. It sounds exactly the same, and it always happens twice. The intervals are always the same: about .75 seconds to a second between "matchstrikes". The first time it happened I had the monitor facing my bed (two feet away) and was using my wireless mouse and my long-cabled keyboard, since I wasn't FEELING well. I am fairly certain that it has happened with the monitor in normal position, but I'm not 100% on that. If it is my monitor, I have no idea what it could be.
If it's my speakers (noooo!) then I'm not sure what regulates it so well.
A ton of things are not regular about it as well. It includes the fact that it sometimes happens on a page and sometimes doesn't, the fact that it happens at all TIMES of day, and the fact that there seems to be no trigger to it.It is hidden code on the page. Are you using Firestarter? Not sure what that is, so I'll say no. You have a poltergeist. Contact your priest.
Seriously, any ideas?Mac did it. Is the sound associated with a browser event? The XP "Empty Recycle Bin" default sound maybe? Have you emptied your cache since you visited the site?Quote Is the sound associated with a browser event? The XP "Empty Recycle Bin" default sound maybe? No, it happens on too many websites, and it rarely appears when I first load the page, as bgsounds do.
QuoteHave you emptied your cache since you visited the site? Yes.
QuoteMac did it. /me shakes fist, screams, and dies laughingI, uh... figured it out...
You know that dog that appears in XP Search ENGINES? Well, he was scratching fleas... I only thought it was the browser because I have it open all day... ROTFLMAO!!! Yeah, I guess I can chalk up one more reason to consider myself an idiot... but one less reason to be paranoid. It's a good trade.
