Answer» My family just moved and being in a new house we decided to switch to wireles DSL. We set it up so that my moms pc still runs wired but mine being upstairs and away from the router is wireles. The problem is that i get a very weak signal and i play online games (if you have an end game char in WoW then you know why this is a huge problem.). Now i dont want to have to buy something so are there any ways to boost the signal for free? i know i could in most cases move the router but there is only one phone line in this house (yeah its that old). For a reciever i have a linksys "compact wireless-G USB network adapter with speedboost" and the router is what the phone company gave us its a westell high speed router...i know nothing more about it. if you guys know of any way to help that WOULD be beyond great thanks P.S i hope i put this in the correct place You could go out and buy some better antenna's for the router, assuming that the router allows adding better ones to it. These can be found many places, Walmart even sells them.would that help alot? the layout in my house sucks.... the router is up high about under where my pc is but there are realy no open spaces till the stairs which then im the farthest room from the top of them........how much would a very good antenna cost? roughlyRed I think I should tell you this: The layout of your house does not matter. The wireless signal can go though walls, you don't need open areas. (If your walls were all metal, it would be a different story... ) Are you getting any signal at all? New Hampshire / Massachusettes state line AREA <<< REMEMBER "wally world stocks stufff the locals need & want in their stores"! If it ain't releated to a moose or some censored ugly cream for the women up here, it can't be found! ironicly i go to a wallmart on the new hampshire mass border also lol so i doubt i will find one but it dont hurt to try lol I live in the U.K so im not sure if you have these in the states but... you can get this thing that all you do is plug into a main socket and it acts as an antena. Basicaly it jsut plugs into the mains and recieves and sends data, ive never had the need for one but they could be worth a look. Ive found this one for you but as you STATED ealier you have a Linksys and this is a NETGEAR. Im not sure how many you can have in the house though. I think I should tell you this:
