Solve : Virus? Clock is progressing by one day every second!?

Answer»

I was searching for via hotmail.com to try to find the correct spelling for my friend's last name (in his signature). In the search results I saw that he had sent me a comment on the hi5 network. I don't visit that site often like once a year or so.

I clicked the link to read his comment and had to sign in. I didn't remember the password (I don't think) and after one attempt the site said it was resetting my password and sending me a verification link. When I received the new email I clicked on the link and entered a new password.

I didn't get a CHANCE to do anything but delete a few friend request when I noticed that the TIME on tool bar was changing every minute or so. So, I clicked the time and saw that the date was progressing by 1 day every second!

When I adjusted the day BACK to today's date it just CONTINUED to progress by one day. I went to uncheck the connect with windows internet server option but that didn't change anything. I instantly ran AVG (I had scanned my computer over night and had no viruses).

Anyway, since the computer's date is constantly increasing by one day AVG said the scan had been in progress for 59 days.

What has happened? Is this a virus? If so will AVG be stopped from finding it since the day is constantly increasing?this is like the twilight zone of nightmares...have you checked the BIOS clock?

Have you run a scan for spyware?

Have you tried to go into safe mode and see if it does it?Replace your CMOS battery...about the size of a dime on the MBoard.

Make sure all power is removed and take anti-static precautions...
