Solve : Video Compression? |
|
Answer» I've created a video using my WEBCAM, which was saved as an AVI file. I then edited it in Windows Movie Maker and that saved it as a WMV. The file is about 60mb now and I was wondering whether there was something I could do to make it smaller without zipping it or whatever. I want to upload it to a website and EMBED it into a webpage. Reducing the size ALWAYS decreases the quality with audio, video, etc.Well, hmm... What about changing the file extension? Some times, there are different video and audio extensions that do turn out different file sizes, with the same quality results. And what about Codex? You might be able to find a codex conversion program. There are special video compression softwares and companies that you could pay good money to avoid loss, but its too much to pay for the average user.Quote What about changing the file extension? You DO know that changing the name/extension of a file does nothing to its contents? Don't you? Quote Some times, there are different video and audio extensions that do turn out different file sizes, with the same quality results.MPG enocding can be lossy but can also produce results that are virtually indistinguishable from the original. Have a look in the software FAQ (see my signature) for Vidomi.Quote QuoteWhat about changing the file extension? You DO know that changing the name/extension of a file does nothing to its contents? Don't you? What I meant, and I realize I didn't communicate this one well, was to convert it to a different file type (that's what I meant by file extension) Hows that novel of yours comming along?Quote Hows that novel of yours comming along? You've knocked me over there. I'm flattered that someone paid attention to my rambling! Doing well thank you; I've got a tedious formatting job to do, about 10% done now, but making good progress. So FAR, on target for completion at the END of the month. Thanks very much for asking. I'll buy a COPY, sight unseen. Is the title "The Disembodied Head"?Great. It'll be $500. Deal? It's entitled "Insensate" and it's a fantasy thriller. Feel free to back away in horror.Quote Great. It'll be $500. Deal? Are you going to get it published, or are you still planning to stick to Amazon*? (Wondering if I will see it in my public library soon) * See, I do pay attention. I even remembered the Amazon rambling (the typos you would see if I didn't have Google Spellcheck at 1:50AM) BTW: I just noticed your rank is "Egg Head" and now I wonder how well that applys to you... and why I've only seen that rank for your username...Rob is in a league by himself. |
