Solve : unrecognized drive in bios? |
|
Answer» I am having problems with a Dell Optiplex gx270 computer's internal DVD/CDRW Combo - H.L Data Storage - GCC-4241N. Under My Computer, only one drive is listed and thats the HDD. The device manager doesn't show any optical drives installed either. Tried installing the device through Add/Remove HARDWARE without success. In the BIOS it says that no cd-drive is installed. I took it apart and checked all the connections and they were all secure. Still it wasn't recognized in the BIOS. There was never a floppy drive installed whatsoever on this computer also. So I can't do anything more with this, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS, NEILIf you checked all the cables , drivers , add and remove hardware then I would say it is a bad disc-drive.Hi Neil.
Let me know if you need help with any of these suggestions. Doc having a similar issue. BIOS detects my CD-Rom. Thats it. Detecting IDE controllers, Fails. Same happens in BIOS setup. Any suggestions?more info: I have remove HD. Works in another SYSTEM. along with RAM/Cables/3.5- MB is shot huh?DnK: Has the hard drive ever worked in the computer? The hard drive works fine and always has. There was never a floppy drive installed on this computer. I am gonna put the dvd drive in my other computer tonight and see if it works. If the dvd palyer works then i will assume it's the controller. Thanks for your help and I will post tomorow with results. Neil |
