Answer» I recently ditched windows XP, and got Ubuntu Linux OFR my tower, and I love it. However, I was wondering if there was a program besides alein, that can install .rpm files, or if I can somehow install the files manually.
Thanks in advance,
Viper
P.s.
I'm running version 6.06 LTS of ubuntu linux, running an AMD duron, at 1.1Ghz, with 256 of RAM. Let me know if you need anymore information. Thanks againYou shouldn't need to install RPMs for the most part. Use apt (Synaptic in X Windows) to MANAGE packages from the Ubuntu repository. If you add in all the extra REPOSITORIES, I think you'll find it's quite a while before you need to look for an RPM somewhere else.
What are you trying to install?I was hoping to install the newer version of JRE, but it's an rpm, and the only thing in the synaptic package MANAGER was the older version.
