Answer» Is this the proper forum for a little help troubleshooting a slimline PS3 unit? Its my daughters, will be 2 years old this Christmas. It has started randomly shutting down. I have cleaned it out, quite dusty. The fan I see in TOP of the (cooling fan, I'm assuming) seems to be a little noisy. How does a person check the hard drive or a failing power supply? I saw the other forum for games, wasn't SURE which SPOT to put this, so just started it here. And I also see there is no actual discussion forum marked for gaming console issues. So I realize I may get no where. But I know there are some brains here too, I am thinking someone on here knows something about them. thanksIt appears from my research on your behalf that this is a fairly common problem with that model. And crap, it was a bunch here in my neck of the woods. We had 3 winters worth of snow in 1. That Facebook thing you been hearing about, its catching on, spending too much time farming. And BTW the PS-3 did limp along after cleaning it out till this past summer. No video now.
