Solve : The Start Menu? |
|
Answer» In Windows 10 the Start Menu has frozen. Usually, I am able to scroll up and down the menu, but now this is impossible. Try Left-clicking on the Start button and you should see the Start Menu. +++1 Thanks very much for prompt reply, but unfortunately your tip did not work. Thanks, too, for letting me know the different definitions of "context" menu and "start menu". Perhaps there is some other way of accessing the scroll down (Start) menu, please? Kind regards. Joe BusuttilWhat happens when you press the Windows key on your keyboard? (Right-hand side of the keyboard, between Ctrl and ALT keys) Failure to bring up the Start menu when LEFT clicking on the Start Button can suggest a faulty mouse, especially if left clicks in other places often bring up the right-click choice. If the machine is a laptop, the problem could be with the touchpad, and plugging a known good mouse into a USB port can confirm this. Nothing happened when I hit the button between the Alt Gr and the Ctrl button on the right side of the keyboard. Joe Busuttil (aka Guzeppi)Changed the mouse, but no luck. Any other suggestion, please? Renewed thanks. Joe Busuttil (aka Guzeppi) P.S. The freezing of the start menu had happened to me a few times months ago, but the menu somehow returned to normal. Why is it not working now? Quote from: strollin on December 26, 2018, 08:25:55 AM What happens when you press the Windows key on your keyboard? Quote from: Term_ite on December 26, 2018, 03:09:25 PM The Windows key is located on the LEFT side of the keyboard between the ctrl and alt keys. My UK keyboard has 2 Windows keys, one on the left between Ctrl and Alt, and the other on the right, between Alt Gr and the Menu/Application key. Some keyboards don't have a Menu/Application key, which is MARKED like this with 3 lines: The Windows key looks like this I assumed that the OP owned a standard keyboard with 1 Windows key & was trying to get him on the right track. Should have said LEFT side! The desktop icons pop up. Nothing else. Thanks again. Joe BusuttilI'm not sure what you mean by "desktop icons" here. Aren't they showing all the TIME? |
