Solve the following systems of equations:\(\frac{2}{x}\)+ \(\frac{5}{y}\) = 1\(\frac{60}{x}\)+\(\frac{40}{y}\) = 19, x ≠ 0, y ≠ 0

Answer»

 \(\frac{2}{x}\)\(\frac{5}{y}\) = 1

\(\frac{60}{x}\)+\(\frac{40}{y}\) = 19, x ≠ 0, y ≠ 0

Multiplying eq1 by 8 and subtracting from eq2

⇒ 44/x = 19 – 8

⇒ x = 4

Thus,

2/4 + 5/y = 1

⇒ 5/y = 1/2

⇒ y = 10
