Solve the following systems of equations:\(\frac{15}{u}\)+\(\frac{2}{v}\) = 17\(\frac{1}{u}\)+\(\frac{1}{v}\) = \(\frac{36}{5}\)

Answer»

 \(\frac{15}{u}\)+\(\frac{2}{v}\) = 17

\(\frac{1}{u}\)+\(\frac{1}{v}\) = \(\frac{36}{5}\)

Multiplying eq2 by 2 and subtracting

13/u = 17 – 72/5

⇒ u = 5

Thus,

3 + 2/v = 17

⇒ v = 1/7
