1.

Solve the following pair of equations: x − 3y − 7 = 0 ; 3x − 5y − 15 = 0

Answer»

EXPLANATION.

Equation are =

=> X - 3y - 7 = 0 .....(1)

=> 3X - 5Y - 15 = 0 ......(2)

From equation (1) and (2) we GET,

=> multiply equation (1) by 3

=> multiply equation (2) by 1

we get,

=> 3x - 9y - 21 = 0

=> 3x - 5y - 15 = 0

we get,

=> -4y = 6

=> y = - 3/2

put the value of y = - 3/2 in equation (1)

we get,

=> x - 3( - 3/2) - 7 = 0

=> x + 9/2 - 7 = 0

=> x = 7 - 9/2

=> x = 14 - 9 / 2

=> x = 5/2

Therefore,

value of x = 5/2 and y = -3/2
