Hi guys i have a svchost.exe - application error and this is what it says 'the instruction at "0x7c917530" refrenced memory at "0x734131d0". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0xc000009c" this happend after the laptop (xp home edition) was dropped on the FLOOR and it lost its documents so i roled back the computer and i got all my docs back but now when i log ONTO the computer it goes really slow then when i open a program the computer freezes then goes ultra slow and i mean ultra slow i have tryed to disable the automatic UPDATES but its still not working any help WOULD be really nice1) Boot to the XP CD. Choose the FIRST repair option. This will take you to the Recovery Console. Run: chkdsk /r

2) If the above doesn't fix the problem you can try a repair install (boot to the XP CD and choose the SECOND repair option). After installation you'll need to GO to Windows Update and download all updates. If you didn't do any physical damage when you dropped the laptop this may work.
