Solve : Strange problem?

Answer»

Last night I got some updates for my Ubuntu computer.

After the updates, I open up Firefox. The home page is google.com. But when it opened up it went to http://www.google.es/ the spanish google.
I thouhgt it was strange, but this old LINUX box is a bit buggy.

I checked to make sure that my homepage was still set to google.com
It was!

I didn't think much of it.

Today I hooked up another computer I have, with XP Pro and opened Internet Explorer. The home page on this completely different computer is also google.

I was surprised when http://www.google.es/
opened up again on this computer.

I then tried to get to google on Opera and the same thing happened. I thought it was very strange so I decided to check out google on another computer I have in a different room (on the same network).

That computer did the same thing with four different browsers.

So I'm thinking this might be problem on google's end.

Do any of you have this same problem?

Mr. Google, whats you take on this?google's going to google.ca for me, just as it should.

.COM is really a REDIRECTOR to the proper national VERSION- you could try to force it to google.us, or even try google.ca, see if one of those works.

Why it's REDIRECTING I haven't a clue- if it was one computer, I'd suspect browser/region settings, but with multiple it gets more confusing. They are on the same network though, so chances are the router might be doing it for some reason...

Okay, I just powered off all of the computers and unplugged the router.

After about five minutes, I plugged the router BACK in and started a couple of the computers back up; one computer with Xp and the other with 98se.

I then tried to go to google.com on both of the computers.
I still get redirected to http://www.google.es/

Any other search engine I go to, is fine (in English).

The common denominators with all of these computers are the router and modem.

It really isn't that big of a deal.
It just annoys me.

Could it be my ISP?
