Answer» when I try to use a CD (my CD's worked until yesterday) I get a message: C:\windows\system32 autoexec.net The system is not suitable for running MS-DOS or MICROSOFT Windows applications. Choose close to terminate the APPLICATION. What has happened here? All my other applications work fine (word, outlook express, explorer), but I can't get a CD to work (Asus 40xmax. My system is windows xp. what should I do. I am using my CS for some college research. Please help soon.This seems to be an INCREASINGLY frequent problem. It would be interesting to KNOW the cause. To fix: copy c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32 After you copy the file, find it in Windows Explorer, click properties and lock it down by GIVING it a read-only attribute.
