Most likely case, your computer doesn't support the language that is trying to be displayed. What language is it supposed to be?Thanks for the quick response.
Absolutely no idea what language it is unfortunately. I do know she is using MS Office 2003 which is what I use. I have gone through every font available but without success. She is going to love this if I can't work it out.

Graham. You'll need a font that has characters for whatever language that is. Any way you can find out? (Does she know?)All, I know, the first line is in Portuguese, second one in German, and the last one in Spanish.
Characters in the middle most likely come from some non-Latin language.
What was that mail was supposed to be about? She knows exactly what it means. She THINKS that Grandad (me) wont be able to work it out and unfortunately at the moment shes right. This is where I have got to with working it out.

Você pode realizar isto? This is Portuguese.AND IT MEANS. You can accomplish this?

Was bedeutet das? This is german. AND IT MEANSWhat does this MEAN?

The plot thickens, I just opened the email in Word and this is what the squares look like now. Unfortunately I still don't know what it means.

Graham.Still doesn't really help. Really need to know what the original language was so we can tell you how to SET your computer to display that font.

Without that language setup on your computer, we will never know.Hi All,
Have spoken to her today and it appears that she is not as clever as I thought she was. She tells me that when the original email was sent from Yahoo it had conventional text on all the lines. She has no idea what happened to it to CAUSE squares to appear by the time I received it. She is coming round tomorrow afternoon so we will have a look at her email account setting to see what happened. Having said all that she achieved what she set out to, she confused me well and truly. Will update if I can work out what went wrong. Thank you to all the people who posted with help.

Cheers,

Graham.
