I recently found a e-machine T3256. When I turn it on it sounds like it's starting. However, when I turn the monitor on, it starts up, but then the light TURNS orange and blinks like it isn't recieving a signal. Thinking the video card was broken, I replaced it to no avail. Then, I tried booting it from an Ubuntu LIVE disc to see if it would boot to Linux. To my surprise, it started and loaded to the option screen, where it shut down. Now upon turning it on it will start to various points then then randomly turn off, and the tower will start to make this strange clicking noise. I know that the monitor, new video card, keyboard/mouse, power cord, etc. work- I've tested them with builds and they work fine. Do you have any idea what's going on, and if so, how I can FIX it? This would indicate the hard drive suffers from "the click of death" and NEEDS to be replaced.And how clean is it inside the case ? ?
It could be shutting down from overheating...
Are all fans in WORKING order ? ?
