Solve : Storing SD Cards?

Answer»

I have a growing collection of SD cards and a couple of MicroSD adaptors. Some came with a basic plastic case, but OTHERS have not, just the retail packaging. I am concerned theese will in time get lost andd/or damaged without a better storage method. I have seen cases on Amazon but many get very mixed reviews and i am uncertain what sort to go for. I was wondering how others stored their SD cards and what was best to use for storage. Thanks.Just put them in sandwich bags or anything you like - it really doesn't matter. They're not going to go bad.I have all mine in something like this which cost less than 1 US dollar in a supermarket. It's not really to "protect" them, they don't need it, more to stop them getting lost. Mostly they are in equipment such as phones, cameras, etc. but when I swap them they go in my LITTLE box with a lid.

There really isn't an exact science, SD cards are generally tough so the main risk is losing them, not them getting damaged.  I just have a pile of them on my desk.  That said, you really shouldn't be trusting an SD card to store important data, you should always back it up to a PC - SD cards can fail and when they do it is basically impossible to recover the data.I just store mine in zip lock baggies with thumb drives. I started labeling them Letters on Backups and Numbers on others so like the 3 backup sticks are A B and C ( rotational backup ABCABCABC so oldest backup gets overwritten with newest data but the 3rd is there so I can go back even further than 1 week etc, and others with data on them are 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 etc and so if I need a file I can look at my XCOPY output file and search for a file in this text file and when i find a match I know which thumb drive or SD Card has that file I need etc.thanks for the replies

As i mentioned in my original post i have some cards with cases which are mostly fine, its just i dont have enough of them! I looked at purpose made wallets with POCKETS for storing just the cards but wasnt totaly happy with this idea, i felt like it would be easy for cards to either fall out of the pockets and get lost of muddled up or get stuck and risk being damaged getting them out to use. There was also no real way to label the cards satisfactorily. Did though like the idea of keeping them together, as i am often misplacing them in the individual cases.

I have now found and bought a pack of empty individual cases and plan to store them in a sealable plastic box to keep them together. I can label each case as i have done before.Pill bottles.
