Solve : started XP, now can't get rid of?

Answer»

I had 98 update on my computer at HOME. I decided to uninstall it and put windows xp on it instead. Well i thought 98 was uninstalled.  SO i put the xp cd in and started the setup. It kept saying i had 98 still on the computer. So i then found out 98 cannot be REMOVED totally.  So now, i have the xp set up still coming up everytime i REBOOT.  What do i do?rking7066.......What about doing a format of the hard drive and then doing a clean install of Win XP ?

dl65  To do a clean install, you boot with the Win XP CD and delete the Win98 partition then CREATE a new one for XP format with ntfs. Download wxpboot.exe and make a bootdisk. Use fdisk to delete the old drive. Then boot to the XP CD and make a new drive and/or drive partitions and format drive C: to NTFS you can format any partitions you make using Disk MANAGER in Windows.
