Answer» Hi, I have a Sony Vaio PCG-Z1VA laptop and my dvd/cdrw drive just disappeared a couple weeks AGO. It doesnt show up in the bios or windows. So i thought the drive was dead and bought a new one from Sony, well i just hooked it up and it still doesn't show up. Does anyone know if sony has some weird drive power saving or anything that would CAUSE the drive to be completely hidden. Its a internal drive and it has power like its working, i can open it and put in a cd which it will spin up. Any HELP would be great. Thank BrentIs it locked in the driver bay.......plastic slider on the side?Hi, this laptop doesn't have removable drives. I had to take the WHOLE laptop apart to REPLACE it.
