First, before using the tool: Tried manually installing the Windows Installer 3.1 Update and SP 2 Update - I get an "Access Denied" Error. Then I tried in Safe mode. Same thing. While using the Dial-a-fix tool, I got 2 MAJOR errors for a number of files, ALL of which are listed below: Using Dial-a-fix An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers Registration of ________(for all the files below) - 0x80070005 - Access Denied -Repair Permissions found in the tools dialog msxml3.dll danim.dll cdfview.dll datime.dll lmrt.dll mshtml.dll - Acess Denied - The PROGRAM said not sure about this error 80004005 - Unspecified error - This object might be corrupted try SFC /purgecache SFC /scannow in the Tools Dialog or try to find a replacement msdaora.dll msdaosp.dll msdaps.dll msdasql.dll oledb32.dll sqloledb.dll sqlxmlx.dll What is the Tools Dialog? UPDATE: Found the tools button on the software, will try the recommendations UPDATE: All errors fixed, tool works properly now.Following the suggestions after using the tool, Quote Download/Install Windows Update v3. When trying to install Windows Update v3 I get a note saying it's already installed. Yes I did. I was not able to install the ones mentioned, however I was able to install Windows Update Installer 3.1, which I couldn't before.
