Solve : Software Compatibility Issues?

Answer»

I just got a nice new computer and it seems that whenever i run a game such a Guild Wars or Day of Defeat, after an hour or so, the game/ computer freezes. I assume there are some compatibility issues.

Just for some basic specs:
AMD 64 FX 55 2.6 ghz
Nividia Geforce 7800 GTX (2, SLI)
2 GB DDRAM

It's built by ABS. I know the hardware is defintely strong enough to handle those games but the frequent freezing is alarming. Anyone know what to do? Thank you very much in advance. What size is your HD and what OS are you using? Do you get an error message, or does it just lock up?Return it if it still under warranty.Well I just got it 2 days ago, I was hoping there was some way for me to get around this :p

Voiding warranty is not something you would like to do.

However, you can check temperatures to SEE if the system is overheating.Wow...you MUST have paid a hefty price for that...

For some reason, I believe that it is possible that a machine can be too powerful for the software. I am not familiar with those games...

What are the system requirements?Maybe it is the temperature, it gets hot SOMETIMES :p

There are two fans though, one on the side and one on the back, I upgraded the power supply on it as well.

The System reqs for Day of Defeat I would assume would be the same for CS. For GW it would be :

Minimum System Specs:

Windows XP/2000/ME/98
800 MHz Pentium III or equivalent
256 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX with 32MB of video memory
2 GB available hard drive space
Internet connection
DirectX 8.0

Recommended System Specs:

Windows XP/2000/ME/98
Pentium III 1GHz or equivalent
512 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 9000 or GeForce 4 Ti Series with 64MB of video memory
2 GB available hard drive space
Internet connection

Anyhow, I think it might be the temperature issue.. Anyway I can tone it down? Maybe dont use SLI TECH?

Would it be possible if they installed the software in a funky way that would disturb these regular processes?Quote
