Solve : smart tv?

Answer»

If I have a smart tv wifi linked to my computer, Is the speed of the signal (say watching a movie on youtube) determined by the smart tv, the internet connection or the speed of the computer? Or is it a combination of all three?
I'm asking this because I am in the market for a smart tv and I would like to know if there is a difference in smart tvs that will affect wifi performance.
I run windows 7, DSL internet download speed is about 5 mbps and I have a wireless PRINTER that seems to run fine.
Is there anything that I should be looking for in a smart tv or avoiding or does it even matter?
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
Thank you,

The internet connection source would be from your router/modem either by wired or wireless depending on your TV. All devices connecting to your home NETWORK at the same time would share the bandwith speed thus higher resolution streamed videos would become a factor for quality STREAMING. Read some links on how connection speed affects video streaming and general facts about Smart TVs.

http://www.pluggedin.co.uk/article/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-smart-tvsI have got a Samsung smart TV. These TVs will have an ethernet socket and some have wifi built in, others you need to buy a module. For streaming especially HD stuff a wired connection between the TV and router is better than wireless. You often see people saying 1080 resolution material stutters on wireless but is fine with wired. Either ethernet cable or else Homeplugs (the faster the better, I have TPlink 500 mbit/sec PLUGS). Of course the internet connection matters too, but the computer CPU speed is not really a factor, in fact I don't even need the computer to be running, just the router.
Thanks for the smart tv info. Its a big help.
