Solve : Skyrim failing to load saves (Xbox 360)?

Answer»

So the other day I was playing Skyrim on my Xbox and after resting and the game doing an autosave, I received an error stating that the disc could not be read, and to try cleaning it. So I took out the disc and it looked fine, but I cleaned it with a cloth anyway and put it BACK in. There were no scratches, and the disc was WORKING fine for a month and a half - so I didn't think anything of it. My xbox started up, the game loaded right away to the title screen, but when I went to "Continue" it would give the same error SAYING the disc could not be read and to try cleaning it.

This same error comes up when I select "continue" or "load." When I start a new game it will play through fine up until the character creation and then crash with the error. I tried playing without my hard drive, and the disc read fine and played a new game without an issue and I was able to create a character. I do not think it is the game disc itself, but something on my xbox somewhere that is causing it to not want to load or save to the hard drive. I've tried INSTALLING the game to the hard drive (which installed fine but did not fix the issue) and i've tried cleaning the cache which did not help.

Does anyone know if they have seen something similar to this, and what the reason might be? I can understand one save file being corrupted, but to not even be able to load the list of saves on the hard drive - I don't know. Any ideas?Isn't there a huge PROBLEM with early versions of Skyrim where the save games simply grew too big to be accessed? Although that just affected the PS3 from what I gathered.
