Answer» First off, I apologize for the lack of information I can provide, this is concerning the OS installed on a military classified system, but OS issue none-the-less (I think...)
We're running Windows XP Professional SP2, and the system has been running for nearly two years with maybe an hour downtime a month. Out of our 23 CONSOLES, one has demonstrated indications of issues. Namely, the OS FREEZES. I'm no expert, but when the taskbar freezes with a "loading" mouse icon that should indicate that explorer.exe is frozen. I close explorer.exe and run my program manually (via the task manager run command) and the software works without issue, but if I bring explorer.exe back in it all dies.
Here's the catch, it only happens on our operations account. When I LOG into maintenance or administrator and have it run the exact same software suite there is not an issue. Obviously, if we can work around it we do, but leaving an operator with access to our maintenance account is hardly solving any issues, ultimately it'll create more (operators like to "play" around).
Now, I apologize as I can not load any programs on the system for diagnostics, I can't provide much more specific information outside of the standard OS-level information, and we do not have software discs to reinstall/repair the OS and my system software.
I know it isn't much to work with, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The issue started out of nowhere, and it's a closed system, no access to any sort of network that I do not have complete control over, so the likelihood of a virus is BEYOND minimal.
Thank you in advance!Well i could suggest a few things...but their Classified...
