Hello All,

My computer has GONE hay wire and I am sick of trying to FIGURE it out.  I have resigned mysel to reinstalling the OS and giving myself a new start.  Please don't ask what the problem is because I don't want to waste your time by trying to trouble shoot.  But believe me I have tried EVERYTHING that this forum has offered and I appreciate all the help.  Thanks to all the suggestions.

Bac to the question at hand how do i get rid of my current OS and reinstall a new one.  I have a Dell computer and its  OS reinstall disk.  It is Windows XP.

Unless, of course, you want to reformat the hard drive (which will lose all your data) and do a clean installation.  If you do this, however, you will have to reinstall all your programs. The instructions are here:

DocDo you have a DELL handbook? I would just disconnect the MODEM from the internet (to prevent a virus arriving before you can install the anti-virus PROGRAM), put the DELL recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive and let it autorun, then follow the instructions on this page. (Home and Pro follow the same installation procedure.
