Solve : Selling your products on your website??

Answer»

Hi,
I am planning to sell e-books, music Cds online with the HELP of my own site. I have uploaded all the stuff on my site. I am worrying about payment transactions. I want to give all the payment methods to the customer which includes credit card, Visa card etc. Is there is any suggestions to securely run payment transaction on my site?

Check out PayPal
Also, if you would be willing to manually do all of this, check out the web application "OScommerce"

You would really need an SSL cert for that though, and they are quite expensive.

Most hosts provide "shared" SSL certifications, heck, you can make them yourself, I made my own even though it doesnt often check out with the internet browser correctly...
Heh, I made my own too, but everytime I use it I get a Firefox security MESSAGE telling me not to continue! Quote from: kpac on December 30, 2008, 06:22:09 AM

I stubbornly add exceptions. That error message doesnt cause me to run away...
But, for some it does.
I think Internet EXPLORER does the same thing... I'm sure theres a way around it. There must be an open source digital security certificate system somewhere...

Actually, I think there is a company that gives them away for free for email addresses...

I dont remember what it is anymore...
I used to use it... started with Dragon...

Ah! got it!
It wasnt Dragon, it was Comodo.

Thanks! Here's another source of free security certificates for personal email:

Keep in mind that, with both Comodo and Thawte, these free certificates are for personal use, not business use.   Jordans' website is clearly a business; commercial certificates are available for a price. Quote

Actually I think it's simply a bit of spammer trickery as I moved the last reply to the spam forum.

An innocent question (first and last post by OP) followed a few days later by a link to a commercial site (also by a first and last time POSTER). the old ask a question, wait a few days, and then post the solution they "stumbled upon" that just so happens to be a commercial venture.
