Solve : Screen Saver doesn't work?

Hi, I have a fairly new computer...couple of months old with XP2 and my screen saver never comes on. I have enabled it, and have it set at one minute and have waited, but nothing. It will activate if I click the preview.
Anyone have any ideas?

BURK   Any program that is running in the background such as an AV program will keep the SCREENSAVER from starting...
Check msconfig from the Start/Run COMMAND to see what is running.

AV...is that Anti-Virus? I have Norton's. I have no problem with my laptop which also has same...XP2 and Norton's..same program. Desktop and laptop bought within a month of each other and both Sony.

Not sure where to look for what is running under msconfig. Under services or startup? Thanks.

I don't think so, patio. My screensaver and AVG seem to get ALONG just fine.Could be Hopester...i turned mine on yesterday - i don't normally run a screensaver and the only thing that interuppted it was the AVG automatic update PROCESS...
