I have Winxp, all service packs, and Sound Blaster Audigy. I have tried what I am assuming is every solution I have found in short of reinstalling XP. Making sure the right devices are started in services, re-installing/updating drivers, and so on. One thing it probably could be is that there are three ! issues in services, Microsoft kernels (audio splitter, DLS Synth and GS Wavtable) that are duplicates and even though I remove them they still come back. My husband tried to a repair install on windows but could not remove service packs 1 and 2 to do so. Here is my info.

If there is any other info needed I'll try and find it! One oddity I'd like to mention, well two rather. One is that the sound only works when my son played Monkey Quest (?) so I don't know what that is about (I did uninstall it btw for now).  The other is that the only thing that is not greyed out is MIDI music play back devices in that I can open up that list but that is it. anyone home?? Usually if you get the no audio device warning, it means that there are no speakers or headphones attached to the computer.Largest Post of the Month semi-finalist... If you want just delete everything.

Yes there are speakers attached, powered on plugged in the right spot etc.....Did you check your Device manager?  There could be something malfunctioning with the sound card.I'm sure that your audio device run on Windows 7, try to upgrade your operating systemThe Microsoft sound kernals are showing up and I can't uninstall them. Might get window 7 when this one blows up. I need to do a repair install but it won't let me with the service packs which I can not uninstall. When clicking on the sound tray in the bottom right, open the mixer. Make sure all levels are the same. Also click on the device thats outputting sound and check properties to make sure everything is where it should be. I've had this problem before, its gotta be something STUPID.
