Answer» I dug out a old computer yesterday with windows 98 on it and tried to install the XP UPDATE on to it, it wouldn't take it. it said it had a error. it froze so I shut it off. re started it and it went to safe mode on it's own. I defrag it. But I can't get it out of safe mode now. I have NEVER had this happen. ThanksI did the compatibility test and that was ok..In safe mode the CD drive will not work.OK I went to the Computer always starts in safe mode sight , GOING step by step, I got to step 5 and the read-ony and Hidden boxes were not CHECKED, and on step 6 the right click does not have Open With.
