Is it possible you changed some configuration options or other settings with the program on the XP machine, and then copied it to the new system?

This is the interesting bit we've all missed so far- the otherwise working install suddenly stopped working and gave the same error message.

Is it possible you changed some configuration options or other settings with the program on the XP machine, and then copied it to the new system?
