Solve : resize drives? |
|
Answer» ====== i HAVE 2.1 GB h DISK WITH C: drive = 1000 mb d: drive = 1000 mb Now i have some IMPORTANT data about 300 mb in drive d: which i can not delete. Now i want to increase the size of c: to 1400 MB and decrease the size of d: to 600 mb. I went to fdisk and it said "you can not delete primary partition when extended partition exists." I moved the 300 mb important data to C: and if i now delete d:, then its ok. but i can't delete C: now to resize it because c: contains the important data but how to make the resizing? as described earlier. Try USING a program such as Partition Magic instead. There is always a risk element in these programs. The sure shot way, if you can afford, is reformatting. Raptor: I downloaded partition magic from here It was a long download (22.7 MB) After downloading when i clicked on the setup.exe file, I got this message: "Error reading setup initialization file" Is there any other shorter download?Try redownloading, I think it got corrupted midway.Hi it is very large in size and almost took two hours to downloadI can reduce it to 10 mins. Use some download accelerators like DAP.AGAIN DOWNLOADED AND AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM :-/ :-/ This TIME downloaded with DAP :-/ Installer is most likely corrupted. Don't use download accelerators. Quote ====== Combining important data and resizing drives in the same sentence is not the wisest approach, especially with a trial version of anything. BACK UP THAT DATA FIRST! Then you can play all you want. That means i cannot do anything else WITHOUT using fdisk again? You can try anything without fdisk, but backing up your data is a must first. Fdisk is the easiest solution, and you have all the tools for this already. |
