Answer» I have been attempting to re name my optical drives with no success. I have tried EVERY thing I can THINK of. I have tried the following:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\D] =""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\D\DefaultLabel] ="Mad Cat"
All I get is this error:
Cannot import C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Mad Cat.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import BINARY registry files from within the registry editor.
I have tried the "Open With" Registry editor and I RECEIVE the same error message.
I did notice, while in the registry, there were no drive letters for these drives.
I think maybe I have become a bit overloaded. Information overload that is. Is there any hope?
Thanks Mad Cat
(not really mad , just a bit off center)I assume that text is what you are putting in a text file?
Export the registry key you WANT to change. look at the top of the resulting file. That should tell you why it was rejecting yours.
